I Wonder How Many Hours I’d Need…

… to catch up on the last 20 years?

So I’m off work at the moment and obvs taking the opportunity to nail my way through all the gaming and televisual delights that are normally off limits in the average office. I’ve got a triple lock of Zelda, Lost and the internet going on – but even with this sordid little three-way, there’s still no way I’m ever going to catch up on the last 20 years. All the TV, movies, books, and games that I haven’t watched, read or played just blows my mind.

In a way, it’s good news of course – it’s effectively a never-ending supply of retro goodness. If I can never catch up, I can never run out.

But in a way it’s sad. Because I know that however much time I pour into this endless pursuit, I’ll never do it all. There’ll always be gaps – big gaps in fact… Super Metroid? Never played it. Twin Peaks? Never watched it. And R-Type? Oh man, I never completed it…

But here’s the good news compadres – I AM gonna finish SNES Zelda. Another crystal down today – just one more to go! And I WILL get to the end of Lost. Halfway through Series 4!

And then? Then maybe I’ll play R-Type again…

Dude, I just started a similar mission. My objective: beat A Link to the Past. Still early days, but I’ve just done the first two dungeons and am ready to do the third. That’s the really early three though, before it lets you loose on the 8 real dungeons. But I’m gonna do it! Plus, I’m using Retron 5 so I got 60hz and save states for any real life emergencies coming out of my ears! On my old school TV too. Those Hyperkin Grigs might have gone HDMI only, but I ain’t ready to go yet so I got a converter to go HDMI to AV. Wait… the converter IS like a link to the past! Man, this is getting deep. And is obviously meant to be.

that IS deep… playing on the tv adds some reality to that sucker. it’s not the same playing on the laptop. even if i gotta be honest and say i’d be sunk without that save function – if i’d have died as many times on the last boss as i did and had to walk all the way through the dungeon every time then oh my god i’d have jumped off a roof. weirdly i’m half way through the ganon dungeon (well, i think i am) and yet you’re still probably going to finish before i do… haha…
